There are common challenges every Makeup Artist face on different phases and i have outlines those challenges and how to tackle them. 

Look within yourself and take the oje common to you and work on yourself.

CONTENT CREATION: 

Content Creation isn't easy at all. No be beans!! Most people put in alot of effort into creating content and end up getting little or no patronage. The irony there is that people are watching. They may not Patronise you immediately but will definitely do when they need your services and if you're consistent it will take you far. You also need good lightenings, good quality pictures and  videos to get enough visibility in your visual contents. 

As a makeup Artist, you can use yourself to create content if there is no model, you can pick on one makeup products to talk about its side effect and advantages. People love contents that are either entertaining, educative or informative.

 While waiting to get that good Light and good phone, use what you have to start something, just make a post about your work, either written post or visual post daily.

FINANCIAL CONSTRAINT:

 Anybody that tells you that you don't need money in this beauty industry is lying to you. 

  Some years back while i was serving, i gave up on my makeup business because i didn't have money to buy least makeup items for my business, i didn't get people who would patronise me so as to get the money to buy makeup stuffs. I was stucked. One particular month, i used my whole Allowee to buy few makeup Products just to get me start small. So, no matter how little, you need money in this business. For a start, save up little money, as little as N20,000 can get you few products to start with, then bounce from there. 

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: 

When you stop learning you stop growing. In your nitche, learn new things daily about  makeup. Don't just press phone and be watching funny videos online, and laugh away your business time...🤗🤣

Watch Youtube videos about makeup, even on Instagram and Facebook you can learn so many things. Now, i learn how to create enticing content on every video i come across on social media, on every music i listen to...on every picture i see.

 

IDENTIFYING YOUR TARGET MARKET: 

Get to know your target market... Do not just follow the trend or follow the crowd.

I identified my target market through my WhatsApp and Facebook community. I join groups that have people of like minds, people who are interested in what i do....and it is selling me out like water. I make more money on my WhatsApp than other social media, so i focus on growing my contact list.

Don't just be on WhatsApp because everyone is there, do not be on Facebook because every business person is there, likewise Instagram...choose where you can find your target market, engage and suffocate them with your products or services🤪

STAGE OF PERFECTION: 

I left this point as the last because it is the most important. The challenge most makeup Artist have is the fact that they feel they are too perfect once they have graduated from the middleman stage. They disassociate themselves from the upcoming ones in the industry. Some even forget the place of God in their lives.

As the popular saying; "practice makes improvement and not Perfections", people should know that the moment you begin to feel you are very perfect, then you will stop learning or stop taking corrections.  Nobody ever gets to the stage of perfection, nobody has it all and nobody knows it all. So, stay humble at all times let God use you.

13 Basic Makeup Tools for a Beginner

A starter or a beginner do not need so many makeup tools to begin the artistic work on her face. As a beginner,you may not know how to make use of some certain makeup tools just yet until you are advanced from the stage of just grooming your brows to the stage of just drawing your brows,to the stage of creating a perfect eye shadow for yourself,to the stage of applying your foundation with a perfect blending. However it's pertinent to purchase your tools in the order of a pyramid style. The least thing as eye pencil is as important as a Lipstick. These basic tools is what a beginner should look out for.

1. Brushes:
       Get a personal set of brush for your artistic work. There are different kinds of brushes which serve different purposes in makeup industry. As a beginner,you will not be needing a 24-32sets of brush,these sets are for those who are into makeup as a profession. A 6-12sets of brush will be perfect.

2. Razor:
      This tool is used for your eye brow grooming. Drawing a brow on a scraggy eye brow which is not carved will make your work look rough. Always endeavour to have a razor in your mini makeup purse for use. Crave out excesses regularly before makeup in order to give you an astonishing appearance after makeup.

3. Face Wipes:
     Use of face wipe before makeup helps to remove  accommodated pores and excess oil from the face. Personally, I use water to cleanse my face before makeup because water is a natural agent for cleansing, these wipes products has its own accompanied chemicals. Some people rinse the wipes in water before using it to clean their face just to reduce the chemicals which are in it. Use any method that is preferable to you.

4. Eye Pencil:
    Eye pencil is a very important tool used in achieving a good look. Chose the color of eye pencil and brand that will best suite your skin type. It is the first thing that is used to achieve a makeup transformation.

5. Concealer:
        Do you want to achieve that exquisite look? Then get a concealer. Concealer as the name implies helps to conceal all  drawn rough edges of  the eye brows. Its projects the beauty of the brows and makes it very visible. The first thing that attracts a person on makeup to me is her brows,so get a concealer for yourself and in getting a concealer,get the one which is your skin color for  the upper shade and a lighter color for the lower part used for highlighting.

 6. Primer:
       This tool helps a beautiful makeup last longer,smooth and flawless. There are different types and brands of primer, get one for your makeup and get that distinguished look.

7. Foundation:
      This tool helps to give you an astonishing appearance, it seals all aces and scars on the face leaving you with a flawless look. Get a foundation that is your skin type and see the magic it will give your face when used.

8. Blending buffer:
        This is a foam like tool used in blending in your foundation and other highlights. The beauty of makeup is when the blending is perfect. This tool is very easy to use. After applying your foundation, blend it in with the buffer.

9. Eye Shadow Palette:
          Another important part of makeup is the eye shadow creation. Get a good and affordable eye shadow for yourself, it could be a matte eye shadow, shimmer or glitters. Apply the eye shadow with discretion. If not well blended,it can turn to an eyesore. Use your blending brush to give yourself a perfect finishing.

10. Lipstick:
       The lip is the centre of attraction on the face. A nice lipstick can give you an awesome look after the aforementioned tools are used on the face. Get a simple and mild color lipstick for yourself. Your lipstick can enhance your appearance and confidence when you step out.

11. Eye Liner: 
       This tool is used to get a perfect finishing for the eye shadow area and it gives you this bold look. Makeup do not seem complete without this tool. Do well to get one and any brand of your choice.

  12. Mascara:
       Mascara is used to achieve a bold eye lashes after makeup. It is also used on  the natural lashes before fixing the false lashes to enable an easy removal after an occasion.

13. Lashes:
       This is an artificial human hair used on the natural lashes to enhance your appearance. When choosing a lashes, pick the one proportionate to your body size. Get a moderate lashes in order to avoid  looking like a laly laly.
